Updates for the end of October-November!
- Changed my site theme to something more autumnal on my primary domain, Cottage, subdomain, and Town subdomain. Loving these vibes! I added the scanlines back in, and also added Narnia music to my primary domain’s landing page.
- Made a couple javascript widgets for my sidebar. One is a moon phase tracker that automatically updates daily and indicates what the current moon phase is. The second sidebar widget is a season tracker. I made 4 images to indicate what season it is and it will automatically change on the first day of each season. Pretty nifty!
- Moved my yourworldoftext iframe from my primary domain back to my Cottage subdomain. I decided I liked it better there. Instead, I put a little chat box on my primary domain’s landing page and I think that works a lot better.
- Removed the Social Media page on my Cottage subdomain and just put my various feeds on the relevant pages.
- Added a cozy fireplace gif to my my main Cottage subdomain page, updated the into, and also added my photo grid to one of the tabs on that page. I’ve also decided to start uploading some photos of myself on my site. I’m not really worried about being doxed. I don’t post my real name anywhere really, and I haven’t shared where I work or where I live anywhere online. Sometimes I share some really opinionated views in the Newspaper section of my Cottage, but if people don’t like them, they can leave. Exposing yourself to opinions and views you don’t like while site hopping is ultimately a risk you take when surfing the small web.
- Created an interactive rune oracle deck for the Sacred Space section of my Cottage subdomain. However, for Halloween/Samhain, I placed it on the front page of my website. If anyone would like to use it after Oct 31st, you can find it here at the bottom of the Divination section. Essentially the way it works is you click the deck and it will show you a random card and the meaning of the card. You can keep clicking the deck to keep getting random cards. One of these days I’ll write a blog on how to read your cards so folks who don’t know how to interpret them to your situation can make practical use of them.
If you’d like to see more interactive decks like this, let me know in the comments! It’d be nice to see if people are using and enjoying them. 🙂 If people like them I’ll probably make more. I have some already made from when I ran my Etsy shop a couple years ago, I just need to put code to the images, essentially.
That’s pretty well all I’ve gotten done and probably all I will get done until after the holidays. I’m now working full time and don’t get a whole lot of time for myself that I can properly dedicate to working on my site. Hubby and I are in the process of working a lot of hours so we can *hopefully* get our vehicle paid off before the New Year. That’s the goal! Once that’s paid off and we’re officially debt free, I’m going to ask for a reduction of hours so I can have a bit more semi-balance of life. Until then, I’ll take advantage of all the hours I can get during this holiday season.
