An excellent, free manual on how one ought to pray. Catalogued here are multiple miracles, warnings, and encouragements in regard to the devotion to the Rosary. Also, St. Louis Marie de Montfort provides an excellent history on how the Rosary came about. Though I understand much of today’s population aren’t religious, I do believe this to be a worthwhile work.
I find too many classics to err on the more depressing side of realism. Too often, we forget that real life can be cheerful as well, full of many miracles and worthwhile sufferings. This said, after some first hand experience putting into practice the recommendations offered in this work, I do think a great majority of modern ills may be solved through prayer; this being prayers for the attainment of virtues and the removal of vices rather than material scufflings often sought for in the “Christian’s” prayer. At least, if a material need is to be prayed for, there should be virtuous reasons for it.
But, oh well. This is all from me. I only find it fascinating how history repeats. All the isms of today are really just old ideas. Wikipedia even scrubs itself of articles. See, pray, pray, pray. Seems like these days it’s the only way things get done in every era. Either way, this is a cheerful book.
